GENEVA, Switzerland - January 12, 2011 - The world of physics can be strange, very strange indeed; and every once in awhile something happens during an experiment that throws a wrench into the neatly constructed model of how everything works and causes all assumptions to be reassessed.

Such a thing happened to the physicists at CERN, home of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva, Switzerland during December 2010.

January 5, 2011 - With an Ice Age comes abrupt change, and with change comes death - sometimes death on a massive scale.

More of the world's top scientists in the disciplines of geology, ecology, meteorology, astrophysics, and heliology are predicting that the two major cooling cycles are converging - the short term and long term Ice Ages - and Earth has just entered the beginnings of this dangerous cooling cycle.

Both cooling periods are due and both seem to have started just as the sun is about to reach its solar maximum. When the sun goes quiet after 2012, it's expected to stay quiet for at least the next 30 to 50 years. During that time, the sun will generate significantly less heat and the planets - including Earth - will cool rapidly.

Then, in 2007, the National Science Foundation decided that an 8,000-foot hole would be the perfect place to put its proposed Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory, or DUSEL, a massive research complex that will include the world’s deepest underground lab.

January 3, 2011 - Ashton Kutcher is in hard training for the apocalypse, but this no big screen role: he's afraid that Armageddon is coming.

Speaking to Men’s Fitness, Kutcher predicts that the end of days is on its way, and he wants to be prepared for the inevitable madness. He told the magazine:

"It won't take very much, I'm telling you. It will not take much for people to hit the panic button. The amount of convenience that people rely on based on electricity alone. You start taking out electricity and satellites, and people are going to lose their noodle. People don't have maps anymore. People use their iPhones or GPS systems, so if there's no electricity, nobody has maps."

Then what? The way Kutcher sees it, all chaos breaks loose.

LONDON, England - December 15, 2010 - The British police chief says he is weighing up an option to ask the Home Secretary to enforce a ban on any future protest gatherings altogether across the UK.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson referred to the level of violence in recent student protests against the rise in tuition fees, saying that he does not rule out banning all future student protests across the country, the daily Independent reported.

I tried watching the news this morning, and nary a word was said about this being Dec. 7--- Pearl Harbor Day... zero, zip, nada...and now I hear the kiddos say they are not taught that World War II was ever fought, nor Korea, nor Nam... a few sparse words about World War I, maybe... but, plenty of stuff on how Johnny has two mamas, and more ruinous to the country teachings, but nothing on how it actually faced adversity time after time and still pulled through...this is disgusting.

December 1, 2010 - Our sun may have a companion that disturbs comets from the edge of the solar system - a giant planet with up to four times the mass of Jupiter, researchers suggest.

A NASA space telescope launched last year may soon detect such a stealth companion to our sun, if it actually exists, in the distant icy realm of the comet-birthing Oort cloud that surrounds our solar system with billions of icy objects.

November 30, 2010 - In a direct response to the domain seizures by U.S. authorities during the last few days, a group of established enthusiasts have started working on a DNS system that can’t be touched by any governmental institution.

Ironically, considering the seizure of the Torrent-Finder meta-search engine domain, the new DNS system will be partly powered by BitTorrent.
